    SUMMARY: Improves student achievement through the provision of instructional leadership and oversight of teaching and learning resources.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Coordinates a systematic process of planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating all district instructional programs and curriculum.
    • Supervises the development and implementation of curriculum for new courses and the revision of curriculum for existing courses.
    • Coordinates program components and instructional needs with the purchase of textbooks/materials to support district curriculum both paper and electronic.
    • Oversees the district’s curriculum adoption policies and procedures
    • Works collaboratively with all stakeholders regarding policy and procedure around curriculum and library material challenges.
    • Works with teachers, instructional coaches and administrators in developing curriculum guides, pacing charts, and supplemental documents to assist teachers in implementing district curriculum.
    • Interprets the district’s instructional program for district stakeholders.
    • Supervises, conducts, and assists in the development of a comprehensive professional development program for instructional staff in order to help provide a highly qualified cadre of teachers.
    • Oversees the District Comprehensive Assessment system
    • Confers with district administrators regarding any programs that affect curriculum, instruction, or staff development.
    • Selects, previews, evaluates and disseminates relevant professional materials.
    • Participates in appropriate local, state, and national professional meetings, conferences, and events that promote professional growth and will benefit the district.
    • Builds and oversees the Curriculum and Instruction department budgets in collaboration with other departments, as needed.
    • Supervises and coordinates the districts building level Instructional Coach program.
    • Oversees the mentoring programs for the district.
    • Oversees district content coordinators.
    • Assume responsibility for his or her continuing professional growth and development by such efforts as attendance at professional meetings, membership in professional organizations, enrollment in advanced courses, and by reading professional journals and other publications.
    • Performs such other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Assistant Superintendent.



    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: District Content Coordinators

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
    • Hold or qualify for an Idaho administrator’s certificate, required.
    • Successful experience as a school administrator, required.
    • Leadership experience at both the elementary and secondary levels, preferred.

    COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret education periodicals, assessment reports, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, managers, employees, clients, customers, and/or the general public.

    PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS: Consistently demonstrate sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns.

    PRODUCTIVITY/EFFICIENCY SKILLS: Consistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary; organize job functions and work area to be able to effectively complete varied assignments within established time frame.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as statistical inference. Ability to conduct basic math functions, as well as manipulate formulas in spreadsheets.

    REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with severe abstract and concrete variables.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to sit; occasionally walk and stand and reach with hands and arms; occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
