Position Overview:

The Director, Patient Recruitment Strategy will lead the development and execution of customized strategies for clinical trial awareness and participant identification, recruitment, and retention. This role will collaborate effectively with key internal stakeholders (Clinical Operations, Clinical Development, Corporate Communications, and Medical Affairs & Patient Advocacy) and external parties (CROs, vendors, and sites) to ensure that clinical trials meet their enrollment and participant diversity goals, as appropriate.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and oversees the deployment of effective patient recruitment and retention strategies across the Prothena clinical trial portfolio
  • Evaluates and implements novel patient recruitment strategies, to achieve overall enrollment and diversity targets
  • Facilitates the selection and management of vendors that support recruitment activities. Routinely assesses vendor performance based on recruitment and retention metrics
  • In collaboration with Prothena Patient Advocacy, ensures that strategies are effective in reaching and engaging the targeted patient population
  • Collaborates with Clinical Trial Liaisons to ensure effective site-specific recruitment planning and implementation
  • Oversees the development of study awareness, recruitment, and retention materials.
  • Works with study teams, clinical research sites and others to identify opportunities for outreach and study awareness activities.
  • Works with internal and external stakeholders to develop tactics in reaching recruitment goals.
  • Develops and maintains patient recruitment channels with external partners.
  • Collaborates with Clinical Trial Management and Clinical Trial Liaisons to develop a repository of recruitment/study awareness materials and tools.
  • Leads and support study awareness activities that may include participation at congresses, meetings, regional and local meetings.

Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree; master's degree or higher preferred.
  • At least 10 years' experience in deploying patient recruitment strategies for a biopharma and/or CRO organization
  • Keen understanding of the evolving landscape for clinical trial recruitment and vendors, including experience deploying novel strategies

  • Strong interpersonal and influence skills across a variety of personnel (senior management, clinical trial sites, and patient and caregiver representatives)

  • Willingness to be an individual contributor or hands-on leader, according to needs of the organization.

Compensation Overview:

The anticipated annual salary range for this role is $170,000 to $220,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include – but are not limited to – the final job level offered, the type and length of experience within the job and industry, relevant education, qualifications, skills, certifications, performance, and business or organizational needs.

The hired applicant will be eligible to receive an annual bonus and an equity grant in the form of stock options.

  • Prothena pays the full premium for basic life and disability insurance for all employees.
  • Prothena employees are also eligible to enroll in our Company's 401(k) plan and are always 100% vested in their account balances. The 401(k) plan provides for a quarterly, non-discretionary, 3% company-paid contribution on eligible earnings, as well as an additional, annual discretionary Company match of up to 2% of eligible earnings.
  • New Prothena employees are also eligible for 17 days of paid vacation accrued over the course of the first year of employment, paid sick time in accordance with state law, and company-paid holidays.
