An exciting position of Trainee Management Accountant has become vacant within HolidayTaxis, reporting into the Finance and Change Business Partner. We welcome applications from Finance Professionals looking to start their career in the field of Management Accounting.

The main responsibilities and skills associated with this position are as follows:

Responsibilities:

  • Manage month-end processes, including posting journals, accruals, pre-payments, and revenue items accurately and within specified timelines.
  • Assist the Finance and Change Business Partner in preparing the Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet accounts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, meeting required deadlines.
  • Key business KPI monitoring: Create data packs and monitor key business KPIs, collaborating with relevant departments to ensure data accuracy and validation.
  • Ad-hoc data reporting: Complete ad-hoc data reporting requests from Directors and Senior Management teams accurately and promptly.
  • VAT returns and submissions: Prepare and submit VAT returns to HMRC; prepare Office of National Statistics requests and provide data as necessary to other external governing bodies.
  • Work towards becoming the main point of contact with Head Office, collaborating closely with their finance teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting and data integration.
  • Cash and foreign currency reporting: Undertake weekly reporting of cash and foreign currency requirements.
  • External performance and financial reporting: Work closely with the Sales team and key partners to ensure accurate external performance and financial reporting on key accounts as per commercial deals. Review, approve, and ensure timely payment of corresponding invoices within agreed terms.
  • Process improvement: Support and improve processes by conducting reviews and implementing efficient and robust tasks.
  • Management accounting queries: Support and act as the first point of escalation for internal and external management accounting queries.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the wider Finance and non-Finance members within the organisation.
  • Ledger reconciliation and journal posting: Provide support in reconciling ledgers and posting journals within the accounting software package.
  • External auditors: Work effectively with external auditors on an annual basis to ensure timely completion of requested tasks.
  • Continuous improvement initiatives: Participate in strategic continuous improvement initiatives for the business.
  • Additional duties: Undertake any other duties within the scope and spirit of the job and the position's title as required by the Senior Leadership Team.

Skills, Experience & Knowledge:

  • Management Accounts experience: Whilst not essential, experience in management accounting is desirable for this role. Full training will be provided.
  • Excellent people skills: Strong interpersonal skills to provide ongoing support, motivation, and collaboration.
  • Flexibility: Ability to adapt to varying workloads and handle different tasks.
  • Stakeholder management: Experience in managing relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial processes.
  • Administration and organisational skills: Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Client relationship management: Ability to establish and maintain good client relationships internally and externally.
  • Numeracy and PC literacy: High level of numeracy and comprehensive Excel knowledge. Full training will be provided.
  • Dynamic environment: Ability to work and influence others in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Candidates with experience in transactional and financial accounting looking to pursue a career in management accounting would be well-suited for this role.
