The Ministry of Infrastructure is seeking an Events Advisor to lead events and tours that support a variety of ministry initiatives including high-speed internet access, the Ontario Place redevelopment project and critical infrastructure projects. In this exciting role, you will lead the planning, implementation and evaluation of events for the Ministry of Infrastructure, such as media announcements, speaking engagements, infrastructure site tours and ministry town halls.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:
  • Lead the planning, execution and evaluation of tours and events for the Ministry of Infrastructure
  • Manage the coordination and execution of logistics for high profile events and tours
  • Liaise with ministry partners, stakeholders and service vendors to plan events and tours
  • Develop, write and coordinate communications plans and communications products to support ministry events and initiatives, such as event plans and speaking notes


How do I qualify?

Event Planning Knowledge and Skills

  • You have knowledge of event planning and can use various methods and techniques to plan and stage public and media events, including the development of strategic event plans, executing events and evaluating results.
  • You have experience leading and coordinating logistics for events, such as creating detailed itineraries, location selection, managing vendor relationships and event execution.
  • You have experience creating event plans that outline the approach, tactics and implementation to deliver on objectives.


Project Planning and Communication Skills

  • You have effective writing and editing skills to create concise and clear communications products such as event plans and speaking notes.
  • You can prepare and present recommendations and briefing documents on event and communications plans.
  • You have experience managing projects and events to lead all phases of event and communications planning.


Research, Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills

  • You have experience conducting research, using contacts, media reports, resources and past practices to produce a range of materials to support event planning and public communications products.
  • You can evaluate business objectives and initiatives to determine the appropriate strategy and approach for communications and events.
  • You have experience analyzing event performance and making recommendations for future improvement.
  • You have problem-solving abilities to anticipate and manage emerging and potentially contentious issues.


Interpersonal and Collaboration Skills

  • You have effective oral communication and consultative skills to discuss client objectives and brief senior management, political representatives and their staff.
  • You have proven relationship management skills to build consensus, provide advice and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • You can work effectively with colleagues to coordinate tours/events and request/receive required information and materials to successfully plan tours/events.
