The E.ON Energy Research Center at RWTH Aachen University is concerned with sustainable energy supply concepts that take into account both technical feasibility and social and economic aspects. Reducing the primary energy consumption of buildings and increasing the indoor quality are among the central research tasks of the institute.

Your Profile

  • Current studies in the field of mechanical engineering, energy engineering, computer science or a comparable course of study
  • Preferably with experience in Python and cloud computing, but not required
  • Very good knowledge of German or English
  • Independent and reliable way of working
  • Ability to communicate and work in a team

Your Duties and Responsibilities

A cloud-based monitoring platform is to be developed for an existing test hall with test benches for building energy systems. The test benches already contain the functionality to send their data to the cloud. Your task is to develop the cloud platform to collect and store the data. A similar infrastructure already exists at the institute for other energy systems, therefore your task can be guided by the documentation of the existing technology.

What We Offer

The successful candidate will be employed as a student assistant.
The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term up to 31.12.2023.
There is an option to extend the position for another 2 years.
This is a part-time contract position.
The standard weekly hours will be 10 hours.
The salary is based on the RWTH Guidelines for Student and Graduate Assistants.
The position corresponds to a pay grade of 12,00 € per hour.
