The Engineering Shift Supervisor forms part of the overall Technical Operations team and provides engineering leadership and support to the ongoing requirements of the Parenterals Operating Unit. This role focuses on ensuring that PM, CM and associated TPM engineering tasks are executed, supporting the consistent application of maintenance systems, standards and best practice. The Engineering Shift Supervisor will have direct line leadership responsibilities for shift based Maintenance Technicians. The Engineering Shift Supervisor shall provide front-line technical oversight and assessment on all EAMS and priority issues raised by Operations. By coaching and guiding a team of Maintenance Technicians who are shift based colleagues; the Engineering Shift Supervisor must ensure all Maintenance Engineering activities are carried out in a safe, efficient and compliant manner. The Engineering Shift Supervisor is a key role in the IMEx operating model and acts as the primary Engineering contact in partnership with the Process Technologists, process centric team leads and operations colleagues.

Job Responsibilities:
Delivering Business Needs
  • Management and accountability for all engineering activities planned for the shift to ensure that they are executed with a primary focus on safety. (COHE applications etc.).
  • Act as the primary point of contact (POC) for engineering on assigned shift(s). Provide Engineering SME support to both engineering technician team in addition to operations.
  • Ensure all emergency and urgent EAMS are managed and closed on time with the highest priority.
  • Engage with the Maintenance Planner to assign work and assessing all tasks for materials, resources and time accuracy for PM and CM tasks, supporting work-order backlog management as required.
  • Develop and implement clear development strategy for engineering technician team.
  • Engineering Representative at IMEx Tier 2.
  • Support the deployment of TPM and CI through the suite through attendance at required meetings, assignment and management of CI’s within team and participation in defect walks as required.
  • Ensure the upcoming engineering shift is prepared for the task ahead.
  • Ensuring Maintenance Technician training requirements are met and where necessary scoping out the Engineering training needs from both vendor and internal perspective, promoting the development of competency based guides.
  • Sponsor the implementation of 5S standards throughout the Engineering areas.
  • Repairable spares management in conjunction with the Plant Engineer.
  • Manage the housekeeping of technical and interstitial spaces ensuring areas are to the required safety and inspection standard at all times.
  • Other responsibilities as required within the Engineering function.
Leadership
  • Engage with Plant Engineer and engineering planner to ensure planned work prioritisation is aligned with business needs and equipment availability.
  • Engage with the Operations Supervisors, PCT leads and process technologists when required to agree process for work prioritisation during manufacturing.
  • Provide direct leadership to the maintenance technician team including goal setting, development plans and performance management.
  • Build strong relationships with Operations and other stakeholders so that the decision-making on the shift becomes autonomous.
  • Ensure the technician team and any vendors are adhering to the Safe Systems of Work when executing all tasks.
  • Own & manage all safety incidents that occur within the team.
Experience & Education
  • Degree in Engineering with a particular emphasis in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering and 5 yrs experience –or- candidates with equivalent experience (Trades/Diploma) and 10+ years of engineering experience.
  • Previous leadership experience or position of responsibility (Technician Level 3) in an engineering function desired.
  • Proficient engineering knowledge of Parenteral Equipment highly desired. Ideal candidate will have previous experience with Isolators and Automated Inspection machines in an engineering capacity.
  • Proficient knowledge of production operations, scheduling and Engineering planning.
  • Proven experience in coaching and colleague development.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for technical learning and problem solving. To include a high degree of demonstrated proficiency in aseptic processing as well as equipment compliance. Good working knowledge of EAMS required.
  • Experience and knowledge of Engineering maintenance systems and Pfizer Global reliability program.
  • Good interpersonal skills, a flexible approach and Customer Focused.
