Position Overview

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire an Office Associate for the Murray Developmental Center located in Centralia, Illinois to perform complex and specialized clerical duties for an assigned work location. Keyboards correspondence which includes legal, medical and psychological terminology. Composes and keyboards routine correspondence. Organizes and maintains filing system. Answers telephone, relays messages, transfers calls, greets and directs visitors and responds to general inquiries. Opens, classifies and distributes mail to staff. Orders and maintains supplies.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs complex and specialized clerical duties for an assigned work location.

  • As secretary to an assigned work location, keyboards reports, memos, surveys, evaluations and investigations.

  • As receptionist, answers the telephone, relays messages, transfers calls, greets and directs visitors and responds to general inquiries.

  • Provides clerical support to assigned professional staff.

  • Orders and maintains supplies.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and two years of office experience.
  • Requires the ability to keyboard accurately at a net rate of 45 wpm.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires the ability to operate commonly used manual and automated office equipment and perform routine maintenance.

  • Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends and holidays.

  • Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.

  • Requires the ability to travel.

  • Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.

  • Requires the ability to pass the Illinois Department of Human Services background check.

  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.

Work Hours: Mon-Fri, Choice of 8:00am - 4:00pm or 8:30am - 4:30pm
