Organizational Setting

The FAO Regional Office for the Near East and North Africa (RNE) is responsible for developing, promoting, overseeing and implementing agreed strategies for addressing regional food, agriculture and rural development priorities. It develops and maintains relations with national and sub-regional institutions for FAO engagement in the countries of the sub region but also promoting cooperation of member countries with countries in other regions. It also assists the FAO Representations in the region with addressing sub regional food security, agriculture and rural development issues at country level.


Reporting Lines

The Partnership Specialist reports directly to the Senior Partnerships Officer (Resource Mobilization) in RNE. S/he works in close collaboration with RNE Technical Officers and the members of SNG's multidisciplinary team.


Technical Focus

Support planning, development, resource mobilization, partnership building and implementation of programmes, projects, products and services in accordance with FAO Strategic Objectives.


Tasks and responsibilities

  • Assist with plans of multi-disciplinary teams, and support the organization of strategic events, committees and working groups;
  • Support programme delivery, services and outputs of FAO teams focusing on: (i) humanitarian policy, interagency collaboration and mobilization of emergency resources; (ii) response, food chain crisis, special operations, level 3 emergency preparedness, early warning and support to transition; (iii) and/or programming to integrate resilience and development into FAO planning at all levels;
  • Review and assist with developing position papers, proposals and/or policy briefs to support humanitarian action and development;
  • Support on food and nutrition security assessments and analysis, early warning alerts and coordination with all partners;
  • Perform other activities as required within the level of responsibilities under this contract;

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING


Minimum Requirements

  • An advanced university degree in International Development, Public Policy, social or political science, or a related field
  • 5 years of relevant experience in International Development, Public Policy with emphasis in communication strategy and partnership development.
  • Working knowledge (level C) of English and Arabic.
