Downer Energy work with some of New Zealand’s largest asset owners and energy providers including Powerco. We are currently looking for a Trainee Line Mechanic who will be working in Paeroa, Coromandel and Matamata.
You will be learning to become a Line Mechanic by learning the skills that will enable the provision of quality service and workmanship in the areas of construction, maintenance, and fault diagnosis/rectification of all network equipment and installations. To enable the success of the company by promoting a safe work environment, encouraging team work, acting honestly, using innovation and being reliable.
About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity to grow your career as a Trainee Line Mechanic within our team based in Paeroa, Coromandel and Matamata. You will be responsible for the installation and maintenance tasks in accordance with appropriate standards, work practices and regulations.
You will need to contribute to the identification and minimisation of business risks and compliance issues.

It is essential that you have the following qualifications to be considered:
Essential
- NCEA Level 2 passes in English, Mathematics and at least one other subject area
- Current Class 1 driver’s licence (minimum restricted - car) with clean record
- Competent verbal and written communication skills
Desirable
- An electrical background or interest i.e., completion of a pre-trades course would be an advantage.
- Physical stamina to carry out manual work, often in trying conditions
