Your day to day:

Working at the epicentre of mobile technology, this role within the second line Packet Core support team delivers operational excellence for Mobile Data services and which includes an aspect of working with project teams to successfully deliver new technology and upgrades to 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, WiFi and other associated technologies.
This is a critical role that offers opportunities to develop further within 5G SA, EPC, Cloud and Automation, Network Function Virtualisation, Containerisation, CI-CD while using Agile and DevOps methodologies .
To maintain the domain infrastructure throughout its lifecycle in order to ensure Services are delivered at the required level of availability and performance through pro-active service assurance.
To restore any part of the domain infrastructure to normal service in a timely, safe and effective manner.
Provide input to and assist with the introduction of new services and changes to existing infrastructure.
Manage relationships with suppliers and key internal stakeholders.
Mission Critical systems you will be responsible for include 5GSA, GGSN, SGSN, SPGW, MME, Diameter Gateway, PCRF, PCEF, RADIUS and Access Control Filters as examples

With these activities you will have a great impact on our business:

 Be a ‘system owner’ of a platform/service element, taking overall responsibility for all support aspects of the support life cycle.
 Report on KPI metrics and investigate the issues affecting these KPIs.
 Monitor/note problems analyse performance trends and follow appropriate action required to protect KPIs.
 Ensure changes are carried out in a way that protects availability and performance.
 Develop proactive service management as part of continuous improvement.
 Raise and follow up calls with external support companies.
 Assist third parties in prioritising and resolving problems and agree closure with Vodafone customers.
 Ensure third parties perform Root Cause Analysis and provide permanent fixes.
 Ensure third parties adhere to applicable Vodafone procedures.
 Participate in conference calls and Operational Review Meetings, guiding actions towards Vodafone requirements.
 Monitor third party performance against support SLAs and escalate issues with line manager.
 Assist Incident Management to resolve incidents, providing out of hours’ standby cover and callout support.
 Communicate major problems to management, team members, and the user community and product owner.
 Assists with root cause analysis to identify corrective actions and permanent fixes, challenges RCA delivered by other parties to ensure it is correct.
 Analyse issues and correct underlying problems working across elements and services to gain the bigger picture.


With these skills you are a great candidate:

 Demostratable knowledge of Packet Core systems, standards. call flows and interfaces/
 Solid troubleshooting methodology.
 Ability to logically analyse statistical data.
 Self-motivated and driven.
 Growth Mindset is crucial
 Good time management skills
 Good knowledge of Mobile Networks and Linux/Unix Server administration
 Excellent understanding of packet switched network (including Routing & Switching, TCP/IP, BGP, HTTP, Diameter, MPLS, Radius & GTP protocols).
 Good working knowledge of Wireshark Network Protocol Analyzer
 Good understanding of network security (IPSec, firewall)
 Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
 Good inter-personal and communications skills
