So what’s the challenge…
The Equine Veterinarian's role is to ensure the best standard of care of all veterinary services provided by the company, including races, trackwork, welfare and biosecurity and contributes to the smooth and efficient operation of all aspects of the Equine Veterinary Clinic (EVC).
Your day to day will include:
- Contributing to the emergency response team for all incidents occurring during races and trackwork ensuring the welfare of the horse and smooth operation of the racecourse.
- Providing treatment of all EVC patients to the best standard of care including surgical procedures, daily caseload, patients visits to the stables in the racecourse.
- Controlling all paperwork regarding the operation of the EVC (death certificates, entrances & exits of horses, etc.).
- Participating in the out of hours (on call) rotation, providing the highest standard of clinical care for patients, and ensuring timely and effective communication with clients.
- Maintaining compliance with all legislation and professional regulations as well as company policies
- Keeping records of all veterinary data (including incidents, inpatients, etc.) and collaborating with other departments of Horse Races S.A. for the identification, assessment and improvement of the racecourse.
- Providing preventive healthcare and treatment to animals, including routine examinations and vaccinations, diagnosing and treating illnesses, injuries, and diseases in EVC patients through physical examinations, laboratory tests, and diagnostic imaging
- Working collaboratively with veterinary technicians, assistants, and other team members to deliver high-quality care and ensures smooth clinic operations
- Monitoring the smooth operation of contracts with outside providers, including external laboratory analysis, radioprotection, collection of waste, and collection of dead horses
- Monitoring and ensuring that all equipment of the EVC is maintained and in working order, while ensuring the procurement of new equipment and pharmacy stock according to the needs
What you need to succeed:
- Doctor in Veterinary Medicine degree
- 2+ years of relevant experience with specialisation in horses
- Experiece with racing horses will be preferred
- Experience in anaesthesia for surgical procedures will be preferred
- Excellent knowledge of all aspects of horse care
- Willing to response on emergency cases anytime
- Reliability and professionalism with clear thinking
- High level of accuracy and good attention to detail
- High learning ability and continuous improvement mindset
- Team player spirit and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills both in Greek and English
- Very good knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
